Las Vegas Travel Guide In 2023

Best Time to Go

There’s never a bad time to visit Sin City, but keep in mind that daytime temperatures can soar into the 90s and 100s in the summer (unless you want to hang out by the pool or in an air-conditioned casino). In terms of weather, the best months to visit Las Vegas are March, April, May, October and November. August, the hottest month in Las Vegas, is also one of the cheapest months.

For events to consider when planning your trip to Las Vegas, there are countless conventions and festivals held throughout the year. The main events to watch are the big tech conference CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in January, the EDC (Electric Daisy Carnival) music festival in May, and the Las Vegas Golden Nights hockey from October to April. This is the season. Playoffs are held in May and sometimes in June.

What Do You Want to Know?

The buses that ply the Las Vegas Strip are called Deuces. It runs 24 hours a day, every 15-20 minutes, and an all-day pass costs $8.

The Las Vegas Strip is just over four miles long. It is located along Las Vegas Boulevard just below Desert Ave. At the southern end, this strip begins at Mandalay Bay. This route continues to the SLS Las Vegas, the last hotel on Desert Avenue.

There are 30 major casinos on the Las Vegas Strip. There are plenty of them downtown as well as off the Strip.

Las Vegas Travel Guide

Las Vegas has no open container laws, so you can legally drink on the streets, just like in New Orleans. The Las Vegas Strip isn’t technically in Las Vegas. This city is located in a part of Clark County.

Movement Method

Buses in Las Vegas: RTCSNV (or Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada) is the local public transportation system in Las Vegas. Serving the Greater Las Vegas Valley and providing transportation from the airport (McCarran International Airport). You can find the list of all bus routes here.

The Deuce: RTCSNV offers buses that run on the Las Vegas strip and you can find all the stops here, including many major hotels (Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Mirage, Caesars Palace, etc.). Deuce works 24 hours a day, every 15 minutes from 7 am.

Attend a Show

Las Vegas offers entertainment like no other. From magic shows to comedy shows, circus acts and musicals, you’ll find some of the best shows in the world here. We recommend booking your ticket with your accommodation. Use Tix4Vegas (powered by Tix4Tonight) to find 50% off tickets to that night’s show. Booths are available at Showcase Mall, Bally’s Supermarket and Casino Royale.

Experience Fremont Street

Fremont Street is the birthplace of Las Vegas. The city’s first hotel opened in 1906, the city’s first paved street in 1925, and the first gaming license issued to a Fremont facility in 1931. Bars, vintage casinos and everything else in the Bourbon Street atmosphere of New Orleans. Great area for fun, people watching and cheap drinks. At the west end of the street, the Fremont Street Experience (FSE) is a pedestrian mall with nightly light shows and street performances.

Many Meals

Las Vegas has some of the best food in the world. With so much money going around, it’s easy to see why. Here you will find all kinds of food and all kinds of restaurants, from Michelin-starred restaurants to giant bottomless brunch buffets. No trip here is complete without at least one fine dining experience. My favorite restaurants are Yellowtail (Bellagio), Lemongrass (Aria), Peppermill and Firefly.

Go to Hoover Dam and Lake Mead

Completed in 1936, the Hoover Dam is the nation’s largest reservoir. Its massive curved walls rise 726 feet (221 m) above the bedrock and hold more than 9 trillion gallons of water in Lake Mead. It is an amazing feat of engineering, and the dam’s hydroelectric generators supply the states of Nevada, Arizona, and California. The dam is free to visit, but the visitor center with exhibits and observatory costs US$10. A guided tour of the plant and dam costs $30.

A Trip to the Grand Canyon

To combine a trip to the Grand Canyon with a tour of the Hoover Dam, you can join one of the many bus tours (usually around US$85). These take a full day as the valley is not very close to the city. It’s more than 250 miles (400 km) away (the canyon and Hoover Dam tours take up to 14 hours). I think the Grand Canyon alone is worth the trip, but if that’s the closest place, a quick visit is better than no visit at all. A Get Your Guide tour lasts about 10 hours and costs $160.

If possible, rent a car instead. This gives you more flexibility and can be cheaper if you can split the rent.

At Shark Reef Tunnels Encounter more than 2,000 species of sharks, sawfish, giant rays, endangered green turtles and rare golden alligators in the Shark Reef Tunnels, designed to look like an ancient shipwreck. With over 1.3 million gallons of water, the aquarium’s main tank is one of the largest in North America. This aquarium is located at the Mandalay Bay Resort and tickets cost US$29. The cost of admission and VR experience is approximately US$39.

See Vegas from a Strat

Offering the best views of Las Vegas, the Stratosphere is the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States. If you dare, try the summit ride. The aptly named X-Scream pierces the edge of the tower 27 feet above your head and dangles you 850 feet in the air. Admission to the Sky Pod observatory is $20. Add a “thrill ride” for $5 per ride and a sky jump (think bungee jump) from $139 USD.

Red Rock Canyon Walk

When you tire of the Las Vegas glare, head to Red Rock Canyon for a day hike. There is a road that goes around the valley and each route has a parking lot where you can park your car and start hiking before moving on to the next one. The 2.5-mile (4 km) Calico Tank Trail is the most popular in the area. On the way, you will pass by a natural water tank.
